We're not a couple who tends to plan vacations a year in advance, but when we saw that our favorite cruise line, Star Clippers and its stunning Royal Clipper ship were going to be doing this extraordinary 11-night itinerary from Venice to Rome in July 2012, we jumped at it! We are SO EXCITED because we first fell in love with the 227 passenger, 5 mast Royal Clipper on a Caribbean journey we took in 2009 and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Star Clippers line. We've sailed a total of 7 times with this line since the 1990's, and on each cruise we feel an exhilaration like no other vacation experience out there. It's the combination of the nautical adventure, the bonding with the sea, open sky, the breathtaking destinations this sailing ship takes you to ... and the fabulous passengers and crew that you truly enjoy getting to know and share the experience with. And of course with my partner Alan and I onboard, there's always plenty of dancing and entertainment. Don't think this is a sailing ship where guests do the work - not at all. But there are fun opportunities that we can pull the ropes and act like skippers, all in good fun. And passengers climbing the mast is always a thrill not to be missed. We've done it and can't wait to do it again.
